OpenMesh Deployment Guide
This document provides a full fledged guide that explains how to configure OpenMesh units to enable as a Wireless Hotspot powered with Wavespot Cloud solution.
Prerequisites:
Open a ticket with Wavespot and provide MAC address of your OpenMesh device. Provide your full name and phone number in the ticket to follow up. You should proceed with the next steps only after a ticket completion email is received.
In order to use an OpenMesh unit as Hotspot, it is necessary that the units are connected to the Internet and the WAN and LAN interfaces are correctly configured. If you have not created an account, go to the link below and select “Create account”. There you will set up a Master Login ID, password, and an email linked to it. Cloudtrax will send an email to you to verify your account.
Setting up New Network:
Login through the link above. If you have just created an account, it will automatically redirect you to create a new network. If you already have an account, select the Network dropdown and go down to Create New Network. Here you will be prompted to fill out the Network Name, Password, Email and Network Location for this new network. Select “Create” once you are done.
You should now be on the General Settings page. Select “Add/Edit Node” and select on the map where the device is. Input information into the fields for Name, MAC Address and Description (optional). Then select “Add”. Once the node has been added, go back to the General Settings page. Make sure all parameters with an asterisk (*) are filled out. Select your Time Zone in the dropdown and check off the check box next to 12hr time. Once you are done, select Update Network Settings in the top right corner.
Configuring Hotspot:
Navigate to SSID #1 tab. Now, perform the following configuration as shown below:
- RADIUS NASID: This will be the MAC Address of your device.
- UAM Server : This will be address of the Redirect Server
- UAM URL : This will be the location of login script URL on UAM server
- UAM Password : Password for UAM server login
- ChilliSpot Compatible : Select to enable ‘swapoctets’ option
- Hide : Check to hide SSID
- Network Name: The SSID name which you would like to display to users. It is
necessary to enter the name of the SSID for the wireless network.
- WPA Key (Password) field must be left empty, since the authentication is
RADIUSbased.
- Within your network, RADIUS NASID parameter set in the device must be unique
for all the Hotspots in order to correctly integrate with the Solution.
- The UAM Secret field must be left empty.
- Allowed Domains: A list of domains which users can access before authentication.
There can be multiple domains separated with comma, and you cannot remove default domains from this list.
Parameters for the Solution:
The parameters indicated above for the SSID #1 section are important for the proper functioning. The necessary parameters to integrate the device with the Solution are the following:
